Betty (Empty-Nester) (Photos 2/13/2024) Pit Bull Terrier Mix Marietta, OH

Betty is a beautiful 3-1/2 year old female American Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on August 2, 2023 by a Good Samaritan who found her on Brandy Drive in Marietta Ohio. Betty was accompanied by her best friend Veronica who is most likely her sister. Neither Betty nor Veronica were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Betty was held for three days so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership .. But nobody called or came looking for Betty or Veronica.

Betty has a black short smooth coat with an over-sized white bib on her chest, a long tail, and a pretty face with a narrow white stripe on her forehead, a chubby muzzle, and short floppy ears.

Betty was 'in a family way' when she entered our shelter and was VERY pregnant. She weighed 75 lbs at that time. We anticipated that she would soon be giving birth to several babies (and that prediction was 100% accurate).

Betty's bestie/sister Veronica was the self-appointed mid-wife since she was always as close to Betty as possible. We had taken preliminary photos in their kennel a few days after they arrived, and they were snuggled up close to each other on their large blanket-covered kuranda bed.

Betty & Veronica had their second photo session on August 11th when we took outdoor pictures (together of course) which showed Betty's 'baby bumps'.

We had late-breaking news soon after we posted Betty's Petfinder 'baby bump' photos on the evening of August 13, 2023 which included a birth announcement: Betty gave birth to six healthy puppies. All of the babies and momma Betty are doing well ... And "Aunt Veronica" is also doing well.

Four of Betty's babies survived but, sadly, two of the puppies passed away during the month of September 2023. Her four remaining puppies (Curie, Einstein, Franklin, and Newton) survived and were happy, playful youngsters who found fabulous homes through rescue.

These updated photos of Betty were taken on February 13, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Madison Lee helped Betty with her glamour photos on a a brisk cold windy afternoon. Betty was ready to show off her trim slim girlish figure (she currently weighs slightly over 50 lbs).

Betty is ready to begin the next chapter of her life. She is the picture of health these days and would love to find a fabulous home of her very own. Her sister Veronica is still in our shelter and is also looking for a fantastic home.
