Brandi is quite a looker. She has a way of looking at you that makes you feel like she is very interested in what you have to say - she's also a great listener.
Recently she went on a field trip and shortly after went to a foster home. Her foster Dad says that she is the perfect house guest and a wonderful companion.
She is quiet, polite and easy to walk. She has had a couple of hiccups with her house training, but she is working on it and improving daily (a long shelter stay can get anybody discombobulated) Brandi sometimes is overly submissive and seems to be worried that something bad will happen (poor girl, who knows what happened in her earlier life) but she is sweet soulful. She meets people nicely and appropriately but sometimes is a bit aloof after the first meeting. We hope that doesn't discourage any potential adopters because after a few hours she will be wimpering with joy to see you again.
Here is what Brandi's field trip foster had to say about their day together...
We had a great field trip with Brandi today. She was such a good girl. We started at a park for a leisurely stroll. She is a dream on the leash. She did not pull at all and did not try to get ahead of me. She was very alert and observant and loved the opportunity to take her time sniffing all the new smells. She was super interested in passing people and other dogs, but did not bark, growl or make any strong attempts to approach them.
After the park, we sat outside of a restaurant for a bit. Brandi is timid at first, but you can see her relax and get more comfortable as time goes on. She became increasingly more interested in people passing by and had the chance to greet and get some pets from other customers. She really perked up once we had food on the table, but sat very patiently and politely. She was rewarded with some treats and took them so gently from our hands.
When we first picked Brandi up she was reluctant to get in the car and was obviously scared. She had to be picked up to get her inside the car. However, when we left the restaurant she got into the car all by herself! She is an excellent car rider. She laid right down and was quiet and calm. She did not whine or show other signs of over excitement or anxiety.
Our final stop was at a garden center for some browsing. Brandi showed a lot of interest in other dogs she saw, but was content to simply observe them. She enjoyed some people watching too. When it was time to head back to the shelter, she got back inside the car on her own and settled right down for a nap.
It was a pleasure to spend time with Brandi. If you are looking for a dog you can take relaxing walks with or take out and about with you, Brandi is your girl! I have a feeling she would also be content to just curl up at home and take it easy with you as well.
