My Story

Sweet Forest came to us from Irondequoit Animal Control, so his history is a mystery. We're guesstimating that he's about two years old. Like most youngsters, he's full of energy, so a home that allows him plenty of outlets to work that off through physical exercise and mental stimulation is his dream. Treats and petting are his love language, which will make positive-reinforcement training fun for both of you. He's already learned to sit on command while he's been here, and he's also demonstrated that even though he's an excitable boy, he can take treats gently. Because he's a big boy - 64 lbs - and bouncy, we think any children at home should be at least 12 years old. We'd like to introduce the whole family here at the shelter to be sure everybody's a good fit. Do you have other dogs or maybe a cat? We don't know how he feels about either one, so we'll also introduce any dogs here at the shelter to be sure things start off on the right paw. If you have a cat (or a few), ask your counselor for tips on low-stress introductions to promote harmony at home.
