My Story

It can be Jersday everyday when you're with Jersey! And while fist pumping isn't required upon entry, she would be a great match for someone looking to up the ante with a companion full of energy and zest. This girl's version of GTL is goofy and total lovergirl and despite her age, she gets puppy level excitement about life and the people that she gets to share it with, and is not shy to show it. Jersey is adorably awkward with her body and can often be found in an elbow filled flurry of love when making time and space for some much needed cuddles - and is a wrecking ball of adoration and affection. Jersey was originally found as a stray by animal control back in 2021 and was adopted shortly after from PAWS. She returned to our care last month due to no longer matching the energy of the other resident dog in the home as they entered their senior years, and who no longer wanted their own version of daily "Wrestlemania". They worked diligently on trying to make things work for the last couple of years, but ultimately knew that her energy would be better suited for a different lifestyle, and are hopeful that she will end up somewhere that she is happy and loved. After making her debut back, Jersey headed into foster care where she has been her always loving and very sweet self, while also working through some nerves that have come up during such a big transition. Unfamiliar and loud noises can be overwhelming for her at times, and can cause her to be barky at times in an apartment setting, so she would likely be best suited living in a quieter environment without the noisy surroundings that can often be found in the city. Jersey also does best when meeting people at her own pace, and prefers slower introductions with new people to keep her comfortable, but once she is fully acquainted will be using her head to nudge for more pets in no time. Her primary love language is physical touch, and despite her size still thinks that she is a true lap dog. If there isn't a lap readily available to her, she will back herself up into anyone within reach until there is, and has no shame doing so. Jersey loves to follow her people around, and also sleep in bed with them to have them close to her, and is not modest about taking up some space while she's there. She also does find comfort going in and out of her crate throughout the day, and can often be found hoarding some of her beloved squeaky toys in it to "save for later". She absolutely loves to play and is starting to love tug, but is still a work in progress at learning how to actually hang on. For her solo playtime, Jersey can be found, "bouncing around and rolling on her back with her ears flopping, looking like an adorably deranged bat, and will try to lick your ears," according to her foster parent. She knows "sit," "stay," and "paw," and is fully housebroken. She generally does well at home when being left on her own, and although Jersey has never chewed anything that she isn't supposed to, she has a habit and reputation of being a stuffy destroyer. One of her favorite hobbies is to methodically tear apart any not-durable-enough toys and very carefully de-stuff them with precision seam by seam - so it may be worth investing in some more heavy duty options for her! Jersey is an absolute sweetheart and will make an excellent companion to anyone in need of one. Adopting her means being prepared for so many snuggles and so much love at any time, all of the time!
