Mordu Great Dane & Neapolitan Mastiff Mix Wasilla, AK

Mordu has had a rough start! He's a sweet big boy and is just over two years old. He had been spending 24/7 in his kennel in the garage in his former home, and would frequently stand or lay in urine, leading to sores on his feet that are in the process of healing. (In foster care, he does NOT urinate or defecate in his kennel. He can hold his bladder all night, and also sleeps quietly in his kennel when put in for the night). When he was surrendered, his previous owner told us that she believed him to have "doggie autism" and therefore untrainable, but he has been anything but untrainable in foster care! He knows the basics, such as "Sit" and "Down," and is learning his Bed Stay, and heels beautifully on a leash around the neighborhood, but he needs more socialization in public, as he startles easily and everything seems new to him. He is currently recovering from his neuter and tail dock, which was done for an extremely bad case of Happy Tail, but we are accepting applications from potential fosters and adopters for him now. He will be attending Reactive Rehabilitation classes through Alaska Dog Boarding & Training to help with his timidity, but we would love to get him into a foster-to-adopt situation with a foster willing to attend classes with him. His personality is finally starting to come out, and he is a playful boy when he's out in the backyard. He frolics, enjoying his freedom! He also enjoys the company of the other dogs.
